Is It Safe to Unscrew a Motherboard with the Wrong Screws?

A couple of months ago, I built my PC, and everything was working well until I realized I used the wrong screws for the motherboard with my standoffs. I'm considering swapping cases, but I'm worried about the risks involved in unscrewing the motherboard. Would it be safe to hold the standoffs with pliers while I unscrew the motherboard? I'm concerned that this could damage my motherboard.

Why are you using pliers? Can't you just unscrew the wrong screws and replace them with the right ones directly? That might be simpler than risking damage by holding them with pliers.

It's only risky if you're clumsy and accidentally damage any of the small components on the back of the motherboard. Just make sure to be careful when unscrewing from the front while holding the standoffs from the back.
