Is it Safe to Upgrade My CPU with a Bad PSU?

I recently got my hands on a Ryzen 7 5700X that I plan to use as an upgrade from my R3 2200G. However, I realized I have a RaidMax 500W power supply, which isn't the best quality. This might explain why one of my RAM sticks failed and I've been getting GPU artifacts. I've been using this PSU for about six years without any major issues. Now, since I also purchased a used RX 480 4GB as a temporary graphics card and have a few case fans along with just a stock Wraith cooler, I'm concerned about whether upgrading to the 5700X will be safe. Will I have enough headroom with my current PSU, and is there a risk of damaging my new CPU? I want to test it out soon as the CPU just arrived. By the way, I have a new Seasonic Focus GX-850 PSU on the way, which should arrive in 15-20 days, so I plan to keep the R7 installed until then.

You should be fine to install your new CPU and boot up your PC. Just keep an eye on the temps and it’s a good idea to upgrade your PSU to at least a Bronze rating, generally something from the B-Tier of the PSU tier list is recommended.

Is it really okay to run it like this for 10-20 days until the new PSU gets here?
