I've got a six-year-old prebuilt computer from CyberPower, and I'm thinking about adding some RAM. Right now, I have a total of 16 GB with two 8 GB AX4u300038G16 sticks (3000 MHz). My PC specs include an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT graphics card, an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X eight-core CPU, and an ASRock B550AM Gaming motherboard. I want to add two 16 GB Kingston FURY Beast sticks (3600 MHz CL18). Would this work out, or is there a compatibility issue since my current RAM is different in speed and CAS latency? I heard it's best to install RAM in the second and fourth slots, so I plan to put the 16 GB sticks in slots 2 and 4, and the 8 GB sticks in slots 1 and 3. Am I missing anything, or is this a bad idea that could damage my computer?

If you don’t actually need more than 32 GB of RAM, it might be better to just swap out your current sticks for the new ones. However, if you want to go for future-proofing with 48 GB, that could be a good move since games and app requirements keep increasing. Just keep in mind that mixing RAM speeds and timings can sometimes lead to stability issues. It's usually recommended to install identical sticks for the best results.
Yeah, definitely try to match your RAM sticks as closely as possible for optimal performance. If you’re set on keeping the 8 GB sticks, consider also removing the old ones to avoid potential compatibility issues altogether. But if your system runs fine after the upgrade, 48 GB is a solid choice for multitasking and gaming!
