I just dropped my iPhone 13 in the toilet, and I've seen a video suggesting that I can use a vacuum cleaner to suck the water out. Is that really safe? I want to make sure I don't damage my phone further.

I'd steer clear of using a vacuum on your phone. The internal components are really delicate, and you might end up causing more damage. Instead, just let it dry out for a couple of days. You can also try putting it in some isopropyl alcohol, preferably the 99% kind; it'll help displace the water. By the way, placing it in front of a fan is a good idea, too!

I might go with the alcohol technique then. Thanks for the tip!

Your iPhone 13 is water-resistant, so a quick drop in the toilet shouldn't be the end of it. If water has gotten in, soaking it briefly in rubbing alcohol can help. Just make sure to let it dry in a ventilated spot before you try to power it on!

I wouldn't recommend vacuuming it out. Just let it air dry, and definitely don't charge it until you’re sure the Lightning port is completely dry! You can sanitize it afterward, just be careful with the mechanics.

Thanks for the advice! What's the best way to sanitize it?
