Is It Safe to Use AI as a Tutor for Learning Programming?

I've been learning Python through an online path, and sometimes I stumble upon code that confuses me. I tend to ask AI to explain the code, which is easier for me than scouring the internet for answers. However, I'm wondering if this is a good approach or if I should look for alternatives since my friends aren't developers, and I can't afford a course or private tutor. How did people manage their learning before AI became common?

Using AI as a tutor can be a bit risky. The main concern is that when you rely too much on AI, you might not develop the necessary skills yourself. It’s important to be able to check what AI tells you, but you often don’t have the expertise yet to do that effectively. Think of it like learning math; we teach kids how to add and subtract instead of just giving them calculators. You really need to understand the basics before AI can be a helpful tool.

Thank you. I should stick to the documentation, right? Are there other good sources?
