Hey everyone! I just realized that I haven't updated my Mac in nearly two years—still running macOS Ventura 13.4. I do keep the option for security updates, but I've held off on installing anything new because I'm worried about storage issues and battery drain with all the new features. Is it really that bad, and should I go for the latest macOS update?

In general, you should keep your devices updated. But if you’re wary about the major OS updates, it’s okay to wait for the x.3 version or later. Apple’s updates have been getting buggier over the years!
It’s generally a good idea to install any recommended updates to avoid security issues. If your Mac isn’t connected to the internet often, it’s less critical, but keeping it up to date is still safer.
The last security patch for Ventura was released in August, so it’s considered out of support now. If you’re not ready to jump to Sonoma, at least update to Ventura 13.7.8 for better security.
What model of Mac do you have? If it’s an older model, you might not even be able to upgrade to the latest macOS versions.
Check by going to Apple menu -> About this Mac and let us know which specific Mac you have! That way, we can offer more tailored advice on how to proceed with the updates.
