I've got a 5800X3D right now and I'm really considering an upgrade to AM5 to get a 9800X3D. However, I've noticed that DDR5 prices have skyrocketed recently. I'm in a bit of a dilemma about whether to buy the RAM now or hold out. Will prices get even crazier if I wait another year? Should I commit to the full upgrade with CPU, motherboard, and RAM, or just hold off altogether? I could really use some advice on what to do next!

Honestly, the 5800X3D is still an excellent processor, and unless you're experiencing specific performance issues, you might not need to upgrade right now. It's a solid setup!
You never really know what RAM prices will do next year. I suggest keeping an eye on market trends. If you have the budget and really feel the need to upgrade, go for it, but don’t rush into it. Your 5800X3D should serve you well for a few more years. I've tried the newer chips and while there's a performance bump, it might not be as significant as you'd hope for the cost.
If you're planning to build soon, go ahead and buy the RAM now. It'll be one less thing to worry about later, especially with how volatile prices are at the moment.

I totally get that! It's tempting to think the upgrade will be a game-changer, but my GPU is already the main bottleneck in some games.
