I'm feeling really discouraged with my coding journey lately. I've been using a free website to learn JavaScript, but as I progress, the lab assignments are getting increasingly challenging. In the beginning, I could follow along easily and rely on my notes, but now I struggle to complete tasks without constantly searching for answers online. It seems like the assignments are meant to encourage critical thinking, but I don't feel like I have enough information to solve the problems on my own. I'm starting to wonder if I'm wasting my time and if I'm just not cut out for this.

Don't throw in the towel! The phase where everything feels impossible and you find yourself googling constantly is actually part of the learning process. Everyone hits that wall. Instead of just following tutorials, try working on some small projects, like a simple to-do app or a calculator. That’s where it starts to click!
You really need to put what you learn into practice. If you just keep moving on to the next chapter, you’ll forget everything you learned before. Think of it like school where you review old material regularly. Starting a few small side projects will help reinforce your knowledge!
It might help to revisit the areas where you started struggling. Make sure you really grasp what you're learning before moving forward. Programming can get tricky when you have to connect various concepts together, so try experimenting with some simple projects on your own to solidify the basics before continuing.
Exactly! It’s frustrating when you need to integrate different ideas. Starting with tiny projects could really help bridge those gaps.
Remember, it's not about memorizing every little detail; it's about knowing where to find the answers when you need them. If you've looked something up once, you'll eventually remember enough about it to tackle a similar question down the line. Experience and practice will improve your skills!
I totally get how you feel; I'm facing the same challenges! Just know you're not alone. Coding can feel super tough at times, but we shouldn't quit, no matter how lost we might feel!
You two should team up and help each other out. Sometimes working with someone else can clarify things!

I think that’s exactly my issue too! I rush through the course instead of repeating the basics. I might go back and focus on mastering the simpler stuff.
