I've been having some frustrating issues with my laptop lately. Sometimes when I open the lid, it just goes to a black screen and shows an 'NVIDIA error: some part doesn't go to suspend or wake up early' message instead of waking up normally. Other times, it freezes completely on the lock screen, making the cursor unresponsive, and even disconnects from WiFi. The only way to recover is to force shutdown by holding down the power button. I first experienced this issue with Fedora Linux, which led me to switch to Ubuntu, thinking it would be simpler. Now I'm stuck with this single problem. Is there a fix for this, or should I just switch back to Windows?

What model is your laptop? Depending on the model, there might be some BIOS settings that could improve this. I personally disable sleep modes and the lid close activity, opting for full shutdowns instead. Boot times are quick these days, and sleep mode can often lead to more headaches than benefits.
Have you given Zorin or Linux Mint a try? They are user-friendly options that might handle your hardware better.
You could try going to "Power" settings and turning off both "Sleep" and "Hibernate." Setting the screen to never blank might also help with those interruptions.
Have you tried updating your drivers? Also, choosing the right kernel and using either the open-source or official NVIDIA drivers can make a big difference. Sometimes, configuration fixes can help, but it sounds like you’ve already attempted some of these.
Those are solid steps! Updating drivers usually does the trick for a lot of issues.
LOL, sounds like a plan! Just avoid those sleep issues altogether.
