Is It Time to Upgrade from My 3080? What’s the Best New Card?

I'm considering upgrading my MSI Gaming X Trio 3080 after five years of solid performance. While I usually play games like Monster Hunter Wilds with decent settings, my girlfriend is struggling with her older card, possibly a 1060 or 1070. I thought it would be a good idea to get a new, stronger card for myself and pass my 3080 to her. However, given the skyrocketing prices and my uncertainty about what's worth it, I'm looking for advice. Should I upgrade now, and what would be the best value card to get? A 5070-TI or 5080 maybe, but I'm reluctant to go all the way to a 5090. Any recommendations would really help!

It’s worth asking if you’re locked into NVIDIA. If you don’t use DLSS or CUDA, you might find better value with a Radeon GPU. I’ve been really happy with my 7900XT, which cost me about $850.

You might want to consider the 5070 Ti or 9070 XT. They’re expected to be around 45% faster than your 3080, which is a solid upgrade given the current prices.
