I'm currently using a Ryzen 5600X with a B450 Tomahawk Max II motherboard, 32GB of DDR4 RAM running at 3600MHz, a Radeon 9060XT GPU, and a 650W Gold PSU, all in a well-ventilated case. While the 5600X has been alright for gaming, it's falling short for multitasking. I'm also facing multiple issues with my motherboard and need an upgrade. My options seem to be:
- Buying a Ryzen 5700X3D from AliExpress, but I'm worried about scammers and added costs for a new motherboard.
- Getting a 14600KF with a new motherboard that supports DDR4.
- Upgrading to AM5, which would require a B650 motherboard and DDR5 RAM, possibly a 7700X or 7800X3D. It feels like jumping to AM5 might be the best for future-proofing. Am I right to consider selling my current setup and moving to AM5? Or are there better alternatives?

Isn't upgrading to DDR5 going to be a hassle? I feel like I'd be better off selling my old parts and just getting a solid Ryzen 5700X or the 5800X3D for now until prices drop.
I took a look at the 5700X3D, and while it sounds great, it might not be ideal for multitasking because of its lower clock speeds. I'd say go for a 5800X if you want better performance for your productivity tasks. Just my two cents!
Jumping from a 5600X to a 5700X3D is definitely worth it if you're gaming a lot. I experienced significant FPS improvements after my upgrade, just make sure your GPU can keep up!
Honestly, your current setup seems solid for gaming! If multitasking is really dragging for you, perhaps look into getting a Ryzen 5800X or 5900XT instead. I wouldn't rush into going AM5 just yet unless you really need that upgrade. Things like CPU rendering might benefit more from a bump in threads, but for most tasks, the 5600X still holds up well.
If you're really set on upgrading, I'd say go with AM5. I just did it myself, and I’m really happy with the decision. Future-proofing is key!

Yeah, the 5700X3D does require all 8 cores to really shine, which isn't always practical for general multitasking.
