I'm currently using an older build with a GTX 1060 6GB and a Ryzen 5 1600, plus 48GB of DDR4 3200MHz RAM. I just picked up a 5070 12GB on sale, but I'm worried that my CPU will bottleneck performance at 1080p. I heard some rumors that AMD might start producing older AM4 CPUs again, but I'm not sure how valid those are. Should I go for an upgrade like the 5700X now, or is it smarter to hold off a bit?

You definitely should consider upgrading to a 5000 series AMD. The X3D models are the way to go if you can find them. Just curious, how did you end up with 48GB of RAM?
While there haven't been any announcements about new high-end AM4 CPUs, the 5800X3D is the top option available, but they're really hard to find. If you're considering budget-friendly alternatives, the 5600 is pretty fast and can usually be found for around $60 online. For a solid boost, the 5700X would work great with your new GPU, but don’t expect any new high-end AM4 chips to drop anytime soon.
I think going for the 5700X is a good move. It's a solid combo for gaming, but options like the 5800X3D are getting pricey and rare. As for the rumors about AMD reviving AM4, I wouldn't hold my breath—you’re probably looking at a pretty slim chance.

I ran low on RAM at the beginning of 2025, so I ended up buying another 32GB!
