Is it time to upgrade my CPU for gaming?

I'm currently running an i5-10400F CPU with an RTX 4060 (8GB GPU) and 16GB of DDR4 RAM at 2667MHz. I mainly use my PC for gaming, particularly playing titles like The Finals and Warframe at 1080P with 144Hz refresh rate. I've been wondering if my CPU is bottlenecking my GPU's performance, as I've noticed other players with the same GPU seem to achieve better results. Should I consider an upgrade, and what would be a good upgrade plan? I'd appreciate any insights!

If you're not playing the latest AAA titles, the AM4 platform with a 5600X is a solid choice that will remain relevant for a while. The 5600 should be fine for your current games as well. Upgrading to a 5600X over the standard 5600 won’t be a deal breaker but will give you better performance for multitasking and future-proofing.

Your current setup is decent, but an upgrade would likely boost your performance. I'd recommend looking into an AM4 platform CPU, like the Ryzen 5 5600X, which should provide a significant improvement without breaking the bank. You might not be as limited by your CPU as you think, but upgrading can definitely help you maximize what your GPU can do. Just keep in mind that right now, DDR5 RAM prices are high due to demand, so if you decide to go that route, make sure to aim for 6000MHz with a CL of 36 or lower.
