Is It Time to Upgrade My PC?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to step up my PC game since my current build from 2018 is showing its age. Here are my specs:

1. Motherboard: B350-F Gaming
2. CPU: Ryzen 5600x
3. PSU: ROG-STRIX-750G
4. GPU: RTX 3070
5. RAM: Kingston SK Hynix KHX3000C15D4/8GX
6. I game on a 1440p screen.
7. Case: NZXT Phantom 410.

I'm mainly considering an upgrade for my motherboard and RAM. Should I stick to the QVL from the motherboard or CPU, or is that just an outdated suggestion? Also, do you think it's worth moving to a new chipset? I'm looking to overclock everything, although I'm limited by my Cooler Master Hyper 212x for now (I'm not ready for an AIO water cooler just yet, but I'm open to suggestions). Budget is not a concern, so let me know what you think! Thanks!

The Cooler Master Hyper 212x should handle your Ryzen 5600x just fine for now, but if you plan to upgrade to something like the 5700 or 5800 series later on, you might want to consider the Prime 120 SE for better cooling. As for the QVL, it's more of a guideline than a strict rule. Manufacturers can’t test every possible RAM model at every speed, so it's not set in stone. I'd suggest checking user reviews on the RAM you plan to buy to see if others have had success with it. Overall, upgrading your mobo and RAM could definitely give you a performance boost, especially for overclocking. Just make sure to match everything well!

Totally agree! Just keep an eye on the compatibility, but you're pretty safe following basic QVL recommendations. Better cooling will help a lot with overclocking!
