Is it Too Late to Pursue a Career in Programming?

I'm 17 and currently in my sophomore year of high school. I've always dreamed of working in development or programming, but I feel like I've missed my chance. My childhood was a bit tough; my parents worked long hours in service jobs, which left me mostly alone with my old PC and a lack of support for my interests. I didn't really take the initiative to learn programming before, but now I'm wondering if it's too late for me to start. Can I still take courses or learn on my own in the time I have left before I need to decide on my career? Am I too far behind the curve?

At 17, you haven't even begun college yet! There's so much time for you to explore your options. I know someone who switched from a biology major to a tech job, then became a lawyer focusing on digital privacy. You're still in the early stages, and your path is wide open. I'd suggest looking into the kinds of tech roles that you *wouldn't* mind doing. It's important to know that part too, as not everything we enjoy doing for fun translates into a good job fit!

For programming, you're definitely not too late! Just start creating projects, and you'll find yourself ahead of most of your peers once you hit college. If you keep building and learning, you’ll be surprised at how far you can go. Don't stress too much—just take the plunge and start coding!

You're definitely not too late! You just need to pick something that excites you and start building. I began learning programming around your age and eventually landed a job after university, even if the job wasn’t directly related to coding at first. What matters is that I was already dabbling in web development, and it really took off for me. Remember, a lot of people who get into this field just dabble for fun before turning it into a career. You can totally do this!

It's really not late at all! I began my programming journey at 28 with barely any knowledge. Now, I'm on my way to a higher technical school focused on software development. Just take it one step at a time, and don't let outside pressures get you down. Focus on what you want and enjoy the learning process... You got this!

Starting a robotics team at school could be super helpful! Just by being involved in those projects, you can learn a lot and build connections. And seriously, you're still a kid! No one expects you to have everything figured out by now. Dive in and start exploring!
