I'm considering whether to buy the Ryzen 9 9950X3D now, or hold off until the 9950X3D2 comes out on January 29. My setup is ready, with a 5090 GPU and just waiting on the CPU and motherboard. Also, I'm looking at getting the MSI MPG X870E Carbon WiFi motherboard, but I heard it might refresh every two years. Should I go for the current CPU or wait for the newer version?

Are you planning to use this build for anything other than gaming? That might influence your decision on which CPU to get.
I’d recommend looking at the B850 chipset, maybe from Gigabyte. The X870E has USB 4, which takes up PCIe lanes, potentially limiting GPU performance if you add other components like a WiFi card. It can be tricky with bandwidth sharing, so it might be better to stick with the B850 for full GPU performance.
Why not consider the 9850X3D instead? It might fit your needs and be a solid choice.

I'm really leaning toward the 9950X3D2 because I want the most powerful option available.
