I just built my first PC with a 5070 Ti and 9800X3D, but I found a deal where I can switch to a 9070XT and a 7800X3D while also downgrading the motherboard from B850 to B650, saving around $600 CAD. Is this switch worth the savings, or should I stick with my current setup?

The CPU and GPU performance are pretty similar, so you won't really miss out on $600 worth of performance. Just ensure that the B650 motherboard has all the features you need, like enough USB ports for your case and RGB headers. Double-check the manuals for both to be sure!
Totally worth the discount! You could save enough to get a next-gen GPU like the 5080, or splurge on extra storage or RAM. If you're into story games, the performance drop won't be noticeable, and you'll still get solid FPS in competitive games like COD or Valorant. So yeah, go for it!
Honestly, the biggest trade-off is losing PCIe 5, but that's not a deal-breaker for most right now. I doubt you'll feel a significant performance difference, definitely not worth $600 in my opinion!
The B650 I'm looking at, the Aorus B650 Elite AX V2, says it supports PCIe 5, so that might not be an issue for me.

Good point about the motherboard! I'll check those manuals to confirm the features.
