I'm about to buy a new GPU, likely a 3050, and I currently have an old, tired 730 installed. I'm curious if keeping the old GPU will benefit me in any way besides potentially setting up a dual monitor setup in the future. Or is having a weaker second GPU just a waste on a single monitor?

You're right about it not really impacting performance as a secondary GPU for general gaming. It might be useful for tasks like PhysX, but honestly, it’s probably not worth the trouble. If you keep it, maybe for emergencies or as a backup for another display output if something happens to the 3050—just store it safely if you do!
Having the old GPU just sitting there doesn't really help much, especially if nothing's plugged into it. It's mostly just dead weight on a single monitor setup, unless you have plans for specific tasks that could use it.

Yeah, that makes sense. I’d consider keeping it as a backup too, though I think I’ll unplug it and stick it in a box just in case!
