Is it worth moving my OS from a SATA SSD to a new NVMe SSD?

I've got a 256 GB SATA SSD where my OS is currently installed, along with a 1 TB hard drive. Recently, I purchased a 1 TB NVMe SSD and I'm considering moving my OS to it. Since my SATA SSD only has the OS, I wouldn't really be losing any important data by transferring. My only worry is whether putting the OS on the NVMe might lead to issues since I've heard it's sometimes better to keep the OS on a separate drive. What do you all think?

Definitely install your OS on the NVMe if you can. It's the fastest drive in your setup, and having your OS there will help with speed and overall performance.

Don’t worry about needing a separate drive for the OS; that's outdated advice. Your best bet for performance is to have the OS on your fastest drive, which would be your NVMe. Go ahead and switch it! There aren't any major drawbacks to doing so.

Starting fresh is always a good idea! Doing a clean install on the NVMe would ensure everything’s set up nicely, plus you can always plug the old drive back for files when you're done.

Moving your OS to the NVMe won't really change much in terms of performance for daily tasks. If you’re not facing any issues with the SATA SSD, it’s probably fine to keep it there for now.

If your SATA SSD is working well and booting quickly, you could totally just leave it as is. But if you want to try out the NVMe, it’s worth doing a fresh install and moving things over next time you need to reinstall. Just make sure you're comfortable with the process!
