I'm planning to build a gaming rig using an RX 9070 XT, and I want to know if I should spend an additional $110 to upgrade from the 7800X3D to the 9800X3D. I've heard from several people that the 7800X3D is more than sufficient for 1440p gaming. Is this true, or would it be better to invest a bit more into the 9800X3D?

The 7800X3D offers great value and will work perfectly with your setup. Unless you really want that extra boost, I'd save the $100. But if you've got a budget of $1500 or more for your PC, going for the 9800X3D might be worth it for that legendary status!
I decided to go for the 9800X3D primarily for the extra PCIe Gen 5 lanes for M.2 NVMe drives. That's a big factor for future-proofing my build, and it justified the extra cost for me.
It's all about your budget. I passed on the 9800X3D for just $60 more during a sale, and I went with the 7800 because I didn't absolutely need the 9800. The performance-to-price ratio isn’t that strong for the extra cash.
Honestly, if it were me, I’d take that $100 and use it for a better GPU or more storage instead. At 1440p, the 9800X3D doesn’t give you many real-world gains over the 7800X3D.
100% agree. I'd prefer to have a better GPU with the 7800X3D than go for the 9800 with a lower-end setup.
For me, the deciding factor was if I could see a benefit for that extra $100. If you can manage it without cutting back on other important components, I’d say go for it. After all, in the long run, that extra cost won’t matter much.
That makes sense, especially in a new build where you're already spending a lot!

That’s exactly my thought! If you're really stretching for the 7800X3D, I wouldn’t suggest pushing for the 9800X3D unless the cash isn’t an issue.
