I'm considering making the switch from Windows 11 to Linux and I've been watching videos to understand how Linux works. However, I have some questions. Specifically, I want to know about game compatibility. I mainly play Dead by Daylight, Overwatch 2, and Fortnite. Are these games officially supported on Linux, or is there a workaround? Also, which Linux distro would be best for a beginner? I heard about Arch, but I'm not sure.

Yeah, Dead by Daylight and Overwatch 2 run well on Linux, but Fortnite is a no-go. Bazzite or Mint would be good choices for beginners, but honestly, it’s about finding what fits you best.
Yeah, check out ProtonDB to see how compatible your games are. Most high-level anti-cheats, like Riot's (for Valorant and League) and Fortnite, don't work. For beginners, Bazzite is highly recommended as it’s stable. NobaraOS and CachyOS are also good choices, just keep in mind that every distro has its quirks!
For checking game compatibility, you should definitely check out ProtonDB and AreWeAntiCheatYet. Unfortunately, Fortnite doesn't work on Linux because of its anti-cheat system. As for distros, I wouldn't recommend Arch for beginners. Linux Mint or Bazzite are great options to start with! Have fun!
ProtonDB isn't always accurate. I switched back to Windows after trying Linux because SWTOR (Star Wars: The Old Republic) was rated as Platinum but just showed a black square when I tried to log in. Now I can't play at all!
SWTOR works fine for me on Kubuntu with Proton Experimental.
Did you make sure you installed the correct libraries for your GPU? Something like lib32-vulkan-radeon or lib32-nvidia-utils? Sometimes trying Proton-GE can also help!
Dead by Daylight works great on Linux, and Overwatch 2 too! Unfortunately, Fortnite isn't supported. For gaming, I'd suggest Bazzite or Mint. But generally, any distro can do what you need; I'd still steer clear of Arch as a beginner.

My friend suggested I should try KDE Plasma or GNOME. Are those good options?
