I'm trying to decide whether to upgrade my monitor for video editing. I currently work on After Effects and Premiere Pro using a 13.3" MacBook and my main external monitor is a portable Uperfect UMax 21 (21.5", 1920×1080 @ 120Hz). However, I find that when I'm sitting close, the pixels are noticeable, edges aren't sharp, and text looks fuzzy, which strains my eyes. I've come across a Uperfect UMax 24 (24.5", QHD 2560×1440 @ 165Hz) and I'm wondering if making the jump to QHD would really help with clarity and reduce eye fatigue, or if I should just stick with my current setup.

The pixel density improvement might not be that drastic going from FHD to QHD. If you're really looking to eliminate pixel visibility, a 4K monitor would be the way to go. It'll give you a much sharper image, similar to your MacBook display. But if portability is a key issue, you might want to stick with the 24.5" QHD for a better experience despite the limitations.
Totally hear you on needing something portable! But just keep in mind that while the 24.5" QHD will look nicer, it might not be the huge upgrade you're hoping for in terms of sharpness.
Right! You could also consider a 21" QHD or even a 24" UHD if you want a good balance between size and sharpness. Just be cautious about weight when traveling.
