I'm considering an upgrade from my current 5900X to the 5700X3D CPU. I'm also using a 6900XT graphics card. Would this upgrade be beneficial for gaming, or should I instead opt to switch to an AM5 setup?

It's a smart move to compare costs. Think about the performance jump from the 5700X3D versus building with a 7600 or 7500F, B650, and some fast RAM. Either upgrade can really enhance your gaming experience.
Upgrading from the 5900X to the 5700X3D isn’t really worthwhile. The better option is to go for the AM5 platform if you can swing it.
Are you aiming for a nice gaming boost or looking to build a whole new setup?
If you have the budget, definitely consider switching to AM5. I recently switched from a 3600X to a 5700X3D, but I only did it because I got a great deal. Otherwise, I would have opted for AM5.
Just so you know, the 5700X3D won't really future-proof your setup that much. It might give you smooth gameplay and a boost in FPS, but it might be wiser to wait for AM6 to make that switch.
I'm looking for better gaming performance and to future-proof my system.
