I'm curious about whether I should upgrade my Intel Core i7-12700K to the i7-14700K. I'm looking for a boost in gaming performance, and I have a Z790 motherboard, 32GB of DDR5 RAM, and a GTX 5070. Should I go for the upgrade now, or is it better to save up for an AM5 build with something like the Ryzen 7 9700X?

Upgrading could be a bit risky if you're considering a used 14700K, as it might have issues. Just make sure your motherboard's BIOS is up to date. If you can get a new one from a retailer, that's definitely a safer bet!
From what I've seen, the gaming performance increase is pretty minimal—like a single-digit percentage at best. If you're just looking at FPS gains, I wouldn't say it's worth it. But I'd check the latest benchmarks just to be sure!
Honestly, I would skip the 14th Gen. It's a bit of a gamble, and your 12th Gen is still very strong.
What resolution do you play at? If you're into 4K gaming, I don't think the upgrade is justified. You might not see any real difference.
It really depends on your resolution and the games you play. For gaming performance, your GPU is the key component. The 12700K is still pretty capable!

Yeah, I can still find the 14700KF new here too, so that helps with the risk factor.
