Hey everyone! I'm currently using an RTX 3080 and gaming at 1440p ultrawide. I've been noticing that newer games are becoming a bit tough to run smoothly at 60 fps, which is my main concern since I prefer single-player games over multiplayer. I'm trying to hold off on a full rebuild and GPU upgrade for a couple of years. I'm considering whether spending $400-$500 on a CPU upgrade would actually provide a noticeable performance boost or if it would be a waste. I was looking into the Ryzen 5950X since it's cheaper, but I've heard mixed opinions about its gaming performance. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

For Ryzen 5000 series CPUs, they all perform pretty similarly - within a couple of percentages of each other. The 5600X is a great option if you're looking for something affordable since it’s about 30% faster than the 3600X. The 5700X3D is even faster, around the performance level of the 7600X, but maybe costs a bit more. So yeah, definite upgrade potential!
If your GPU isn't maxed out most of the time, a CPU upgrade could definitely help. The 5950X is decent for gaming, but it's not a huge jump from the 5600X. Both the 5800X3D and 5700X3D will perform better, especially since they're optimized for gaming.
So, if I'm getting the same performance boost, I might as well go for the 5700X3D instead of the 5800X3D since it's cheaper, right?
