I'm considering upgrading from my current 5800X to a 9800X3D to pair with my 4070 Super. I mainly play games at 1080p and I'm looking for a boost in performance, especially to maintain higher and more stable frame rates since my monitor supports 240Hz. Lately, I've been encountering lag in Battlefield 6, but the game ran smoothly during the beta. Will I notice a significant difference with the upgrade?

I made this upgrade and it's been a game changer! Performance in demanding games like Battlefield 6 has improved tremendously. You shouldn't experience any slowdowns anymore if you go for it.
Upgrading to the 9800X3D will definitely bring noticeable improvements, especially at 1080p where the CPU plays a big role. Just keep in mind that you'll need a new motherboard and RAM since the 9800X3D uses the AM5 socket. It’s not just a simple CPU swap! But if you have the budget, it’s worth it, especially for games like Battlefield 6.
You might want to consider getting a used 5800X3D first. If it doesn’t meet your expectations, you can easily sell it later without too much loss. Also, the 4070 Super usually performs well without needing the absolute best CPU.
You’ll definitely notice a difference, especially in CPU-intensive scenarios. If you can afford the upgrade, I’d say go for it. Just be aware you'll be spending on a motherboard and RAM as well!
Before you jump into an upgrade, check if your current CPU is throttling due to heat or load. Have you done a BIOS update? Sometimes performance drops can be fixed with updates.
I haven’t updated the BIOS since building the PC. My temps are fine, maxing out at 58°C, but I'll check if there are any updates.

True! I felt a big difference myself when I upgraded a similar setup—definitely smoother gameplay!
