Hey everyone! I'm currently running an i5-9600KF with an RTX 3060, and I've been hitting some serious CPU bottlenecks while playing Battlefield 6, making it pretty unplayable. There's a promotion at a local store for a Ryzen 7 5800XT plus a motherboard for $414 CAD. I'm wondering if this upgrade would extend the life of my build for a couple more years. I want to steer clear of the AM5 platform due to the high costs associated with DDR5 memory, so sticking with my current RAM and components sounds appealing. Given that the 5800XT is about four years newer than my current CPU, does this seem like a smart move? I'd love to hear your thoughts! Thanks!

I’d suggest saving for an upgrade to the AMD 7000 series at the very least. The 5000 series does perform better than the 9600KF for sure, but it might not hold up well in the long run, and you could be facing problems in just a couple of years again.

Got it, that makes sense. There’s actually a bundle deal for $449 with a Ryzen 5 7600X, MSI PROB650M-A, and a liquid cooler. It could be a better option, but I'd need to get RAM too, which is another $250. Maybe it’d be worth it to just invest now since I can afford it.
