I'm considering an upgrade for my PC. Last year, I switched out my GPU from a 1070 Ti to a 3080, but now I'm looking at upgrading my CPU. I'm currently using an i7 8700, and I'm torn between moving to a Ryzen 7 7700 or shelling out a bit more for the 7800X3D. I want to know if this upgrade is worth it, especially with current RAM prices. How noticeable will the performance change be, and how long will this new setup remain relevant? I'd appreciate any insights or opinions from others!

Upgrading to the Ryzen 7 7700 is a solid choice. The AM5 platform is designed to be future-proof, potentially supporting one or two more CPU generations beyond the Ryzen 7000 and 9000 series. This means in a few years, you could just upgrade the CPU and keep your system modern. That's a major plus!

That's great to hear! I've read that AM5 has some good longevity. Do you think spending an extra 100€ for the 7800X3D is worth it? I've heard those chips are powerful for gaming, but I'm wondering if I'd notice a difference or if I'd still be held back by my GPU.
