Is it Worth Upgrading from Ryzen 7 5800X to Intel i5 14600KF with DDR4 RAM?

I'm considering switching from my Ryzen 7 5800X to an Intel i5 14600KF, but I plan to stick with my current DDR4 2x16GB 3600MHz CL18 RAM. I'm interested in your thoughts on this upgrade. My reasons are that I'm experiencing FPS drops in games like CS2 and BF6, and I want to boost my 1% lows. I'm also looking at the MSI PRO B760-P DDR4 motherboard to go along with the new CPU. Any insights would be appreciated!

CS2 actually has modest system requirements, so it might be worth troubleshooting before upgrading. You could be running into issues not related to the CPU, like software settings or even drivers.

I think it's likely OP is on DX11 instead of Vulkan. Switching to Vulkan nearly doubled my FPS with a Radeon setup!

If you can score the components for a decent price, I'd go for it! I’ve had good experiences with the 14000 series, and though opinions vary, I find Intel stable. AMD has had some recent issues, so switching might be wise if you're not tied to AMD's ecosystem.

Before upgrading, have you enabled Vulkan in CS2? It’s crucial for maximizing FPS with Radeon cards. Also, Ryzen processors perform really well in CS2, so I’m not sure you’d see a significant upgrade with the 14600K on DDR4 compared to the 5800X. Recent benchmarks show that the difference might not be substantial, especially in Battlefield 6. Just a heads up to check the latest game data, as updates have affected performance for both AMD and Intel.

I've noticed similar benchmarks too—some show the 14600K pulling ahead of the 5800X, but most are with DDR5.

Sounds like a solid plan! Just make sure to check if there are any performance gains before you jump in.

Upgrading would also let you take advantage of higher bandwidth with the new platform—PCIe 4 is a step up, which can be beneficial!
