My question is whether I should just upgrade my GPU to something like a used 2080 Ti or 3080 Ti, or if I should go the whole nine yards and build a new setup. Honestly, your i7 4790k is still decent for older games, and the 980 Ti could even manage some 2022 titles at 1440p. If you're looking for a simple upgrade, get a newer GPU from the 20XX or 30XX series. Check out places like eBay or maybe local retailers for a good deal.
