Is It Worth Upgrading My CPU or Should I Switch to AM5?

Hey everyone! I'm hoping you can help me out. I've got an AM4 setup with a 7800xt GPU, a Ryzen 5600 CPU, an MSI B550m motherboard, and I play on a 1440P monitor. I usually get over 60fps on most games at ultra settings, but I do experience some stutters and frame drops in more CPU-intensive games like Darktide, Space Marines 2, and Helldivers. I'm considering whether I should upgrade my CPU to something like a 5700x or 5800x, but I see the 5700x3d is pretty pricey in Brazil. The AM5 7600 also looks like a decent option and is more affordable than the X3D. So, is there a CPU upgrade in the AM4 line that's worth it, or should I just make the jump to AM5?

It’s worth checking your CPU usage while gaming. Each game can utilize cores differently, so it's a good starting point. I suggest using RIVA Tuner to cap your FPS. It has helped me significantly with stuttering in the past. For example, locking FPS to 95 in Monster Hunter pushed my 1% lows up quite a bit, making things way smoother!

Upgrading to anything other than the X3D probably won’t give you much better performance in gaming. If you're looking for a real boost, the X3D is the way to go.

Honestly, if you're sticking with AM4, going for an X3D is likely your best bet for gaming performance. However, moving to AM5, like the 7600, would be a big upgrade but will require a new motherboard and RAM too. It's worth considering what you want in the long run!

Have you tried lowering your settings to High or even Medium? Ultra can be pretty demanding and might be the source of some of your stutter and drop issues.
