Is It Worth Upgrading My Motherboard?

I'm in the process of rebuilding my PC and considering an upgrade for my motherboard. Here are my current specs: CPU is a Ryzen 9 5900x, GPU is an RTX 4070 Super Ventus 3X OC, and I'm using an ROG B450-F Gaming 2 motherboard, along with 1 NVME SSD and an 800W gold PSU. I've heard that upgrading to a B650 or X570 motherboard might be worth it, but I'd love to get more informed opinions on this.

Sounds like you're really looking ahead! It's smart to think about future upgrades, but do keep in mind that you don't need to rush into the motherboard upgrade if your current setup is running fine. You mentioned being told to upgrade—just check if there's a realistic benefit for what you're planning to do in the long run!

I get why you'd want a new motherboard for future-proofing! If you're planning to upgrade to bigger components later on, it might make sense to consider moving to a more current platform. Just be aware that buying a new CPU with that B650 would mean extra costs since your current CPU won't fit it. It ultimately depends on how long you plan to keep your current setup before major upgrades!

Upgrading your motherboard might not give you a significant performance boost. You'll likely only see a 1-3% increase at most. Plus, the X570 is designed for the AM4 platform and since you have a Ryzen 9 5900x, it's already fine. B650 boards are for AM5 CPUs, which you don't have, so unless there's a specific feature you're looking for, you might not need to upgrade at all.
