Hey everyone! I've got an older PC that I used for work and it's now my gaming setup at home. Here's the setup I'm working with: Gigabyte Z97X UD5H motherboard, Intel i7-4770K processor, and 8GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR3 RAM. I'm looking to see if it's still decent for gaming. I'm thinking about adding an RTX 3070 and using an NVMe adapter for a WD SN850X. What do you all think? Any suggestions on how I could maximize this system's potential or should I just start from scratch? Thanks!

It really depends on what games you're into and what you consider "decent quality". The i7-4770K is quite old now, and it struggles with many newer games that have come out recently.
Your motherboard does have an M.2 slot, but keep in mind that it might only support PCIe 2.0 x2, which means you won't fully unlock the speed of the SN850X. Still, it's fast enough for gaming.
Honestly, I would just go for a SATA SSD for now. You might also want to consider adding another 4GB RAM kit, since 8GB is pretty limiting nowadays. It could help with performance!
Honestly, the components are pretty outdated. You can make it work with a 3070, but it might not be worth the investment. Building a new system could be a better route to take.
If you're tight on cash, consider getting a used PS5 instead of pouring money into upgrades. It's a solid option and around $350.
