I have a 2010 MacBook Pro that's really showing its age. It turns on, but it's super slow, the keyboard barely works, and the trackpad is broken. I'm wondering if there's a way to replace the internals and the keyboard with a newer model's motherboard and keyboard, so it can function better. I'd love to get back a lot of my old stuff. Or do you all think I should just buy a new one and transfer my data over?

You'd probably end up spending more on upgrades than you would on just getting a lightly used, basic Mac model. For transferring your data, it sounds like you can take the drive out and use a drive enclosure to easily connect it to a new Mac for file transfers.
I’d say wait for the new MacBook that Apple is expected to release in the $500 range this fall. In the meantime, you can use an external keyboard and mouse to get by.
Honestly, trying to upgrade that model isn’t really worth the trouble. You can still pull the hard drive and put it into an enclosure. While you might not be able to run applications from it on a newer macOS, your files should still be accessible.

Exactly! Just take the drive out and plug it into your new Mac. You'll be able to get all your essential files and photos without any hassle.
