Is it worth upgrading to a 7700X from a Ryzen 7 5700 for 1440p gaming?

Hey everyone! I recently upgraded to a 1440p monitor and I've noticed that my Ryzen 7 5700 CPU isn't performing as well as it did at 1080p. I'm considering whether it would be worth spending the extra cash on a 7700X, or if a 7600X would be sufficient for 1440p gaming. My GPU will be a 7800XT, so I want to ensure I'm pair it with the right CPU. What do you all think?

Before you rush into buying a new CPU, have you checked if you might have plugged the monitor into the wrong connector? Sometimes that can affect performance, but since your 5700 doesn't have integrated graphics, that shouldn't be an issue. Just something to double check, you know?

I think they were just saying that they’re noticing performance drops with the new resolution, not necessarily a cable issue. It's more about how the CPU is handling the load at 1440p.

Exactly, going from 1080p to 1440p definitely puts more strain on the CPU and GPU, so that makes sense.

Not every game at 1440p demands a heavy CPU load. If your CPU isn't being maxed out across the board but you're seeing dips in performance, maybe it's more about the game's optimization rather than needing a new CPU.

Exactly! The 7700X will definitely give you better overall performance, but it might not be the only solution to your issue.

Yeah, true! But if you're constantly pegging your CPU limits now, it might actually be time to consider an upgrade.

If budget allows, always go for the better option. The 7600X would be fine, but the 7700X will definitely provide better performance overall. Just think about your long-term needs as well!
