I recently set up my first real gaming PC, a Legion 7i Gen 8, after only using lousy laptops for gaming in the past. I use Spectrum for my internet with their basic router, and I'm curious if it would be worthwhile to spend $200 on a decent WiFi 6E router. I primarily play games like Dune: Awakening, Enshrouded, and Last Epoch, not competitive shooters where latency is critical. I also have an apartment layout that makes it impossible to use an Ethernet cable, which complicates my options.

Sounds like you're good with what you have! If you ever come across a long Ethernet cable, it could be worth considering for special occasions, but it's not a need right now.
For what you're playing, your current setup should be sufficient. If you were into fast-paced FPS games, I’d say look into better options, but for now, just enjoy your gaming sessions!
Honestly, I wouldn't rush into buying a new router. I game quite a bit with either wireless or a powerline adapter, and my ping usually stays around 25ms, which is perfectly fine for casual gaming. The games you're playing aren't as intensive, so you should be alright without an upgrade.
You might want to stick with the Spectrum router for now. Since your games aren't super demanding in terms of low latency, you probably won't notice a major difference with a new router. Ethernet is definitely the best way to go if you can, but with your setup, I'd say you're good with what you have. You can always upgrade later if you feel it's necessary.
Totally! Plus, if you're not playing competitive games, it should be fine.
That's what I figured! Occasionally I lag on Dune, but it's still a work in progress, right?
Right? Anything under 60ms is still acceptable!
