Is It Worth Upgrading to an RTX 3060 Ti for 1440p Gaming?

I've recently picked up a budget prebuilt PC, and I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card. Currently, I'm using an RX580 2048sp and I'm not looking to go beyond 1080p, but I want to handle 1440p gaming smoothly. I'm considering the RTX 3060 Ti available for $400 AUD. Are there any better options out there, ideally NVIDIA, that fit within my budget?

For $400 AUD, I'd suggest looking at the 6700 XT or 6750 XT. Sometimes you can find them for around $300 on platforms like Facebook Marketplace, depending on your location. I know you prefer NVIDIA, but these AMD options have more than 8GB of VRAM and perform well. If you're set on NVIDIA, consider the 3070 instead, which is often available for around $350 AUD; it gives you better performance for a similar price.

If you're mainly gaming at 1080p and not pushing the graphics too high, the 3060 Ti should do just fine for most games. Just keep in mind that it's only 8GB of VRAM, which could limit you a bit in the future.

I've been using a 3060 Ti for the last five years. It's perfect for 1080p, but for 1440p, it might struggle with newer titles or higher settings. It really depends on how demanding the games are that you want to play!

You might want to think about the pricing. The RTX 3060 Ti is almost the same price as a 3070 Ti, which is a better card overall. If it’s only $150 more, it could be worth the extra cash. Why not aim for that instead?

My friend loves his 3060 Ti, but keep in mind it’s only 8GB of VRAM, so it might not last as long for future games. Just think about what games you'll be playing.
