I'm currently using a Gigabyte 3060 Ti that I purchased for $599 back in October 2021. I'm considering an upgrade because I'm looking for more stable FPS in some games, as the 3060 Ti struggles a bit. I play on a 1080p 144Hz monitor. There's an open box RTX 5070 Aorus Master at Best Buy for $685. My cousin is willing to buy my 3060 Ti for $225. Do you think this upgrade is worth it?

I have two builds focusing on Aorus cards, and I’ve been pushing the 5070 at the MSRP of $549 as the best value this generation. But I agree, you should stick to that MSRP—anything over is just not worth it. Aorus cards have some features, but they don’t really make a difference in performance. Plus, the 5070 at $549 and the recommendations for the 9070 XT at $200 more are just too much.
If you're really set on getting a 5070, skip the Aorus Master and just get a standard model for around $550. There’s almost no reason to pay extra for the premium features unless it’s purely for looks.
That upgrade seems a bit excessive for 1080p 144Hz gaming. What types of games are you mainly playing right now? You might not actually need such a powerful card.
I'd recommend against paying $685 for the 5070 when you could get an RX 9070 XT, which usually outperforms it and offers more VRAM for that price. Plus, you can often find 5070s for MSRP at $550. Why spend more than needed?
Honestly, that price feels way too high for the RTX 5070. You’re getting close to the territory of the 5070 Ti or even the RX 9070 XT, which are both better options. You should be able to find a 5070 for around $550 if you’re willing to shop around. It's worth the effort to look for a better deal!
The problem is, the cheapest 9070 XT I found at Best Buy is about $719, which is a bit steep. Still, just weighing options here!
