Hey everyone! I just upgraded to an RTX 5070 and I still have my old RTX 3060 lying around. I'm curious if there's any real benefit to using both at the same time in my system. Here are my specs: I have a Ryzen 7 CPU, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and a mix of 2TB and 1TB m.2 SSDs. I'm also using an EVGA Supernova 750G+ Gold power supply.
I'm wondering:
1) What are the reasons for having a second GPU in one computer?
2) Can my current power supply handle both GPUs, or will I need to get a new one?
3) Would using both GPUs improve my gaming experience in any way? Thanks for the help!

If you plan to use one GPU for Lossless Scaling, it can give you a small FPS boost, but the quality isn't as clean compared to Nvidia's own scaling. Just be aware that getting it set up could be pricey and complicated depending on your motherboard.
You can definitely utilize a second GPU for some specific tasks. It might be good for VR, local AI, streaming encoding, or certain creative applications. Some people also use the second GPU with a feature called Lossless Scaling, but success can vary a lot depending on your setup.
You might actually need a new power supply if you plan on using both GPUs. While you can run Lossless Scaling, the 5070 already supports DLSS technology very well, so adding another GPU could actually be a downgrade for that.
Honestly, using a second GPU may not be worth it. Your motherboard likely has limitations as it doesn't support PCIe 5.0 and could potentially slow down your other GPU. The 5070 is already a powerful card, and you're unlikely to gain significant performance boosts for gaming.
In the end, it really comes down to what you're looking to do. If you have the second GPU and don't mind the extra setup, it could be beneficial for certain applications. But if you're just gaming, you might be better off investing in a stronger main GPU instead.
