What Happens to My Files When Migrating Windows 11 OS to a New SSD?

I have a 1TB SSD in my laptop, which is divided into two partitions: C: and E:. The C: partition holds my Windows operating system, and I'm planning to add another SSD of 512GB. My question is, if I migrate the OS from the C: partition to the new 512GB SSD, will my files in the E: partition remain safe, or will they get deleted during the process?

Your files on the E: partition should remain safe during the migration. However, keep in mind that you can't just move the C: partition by itself; you'll need to migrate the boot record and recovery partition as well.

Yes, the E: partition will be untouched by the migration. Just remember that you need to transfer not only the OS from C: but also the necessary boot files to ensure it runs properly on the new SSD.

Can you break that down a bit more? What exactly are the boot files?
