Is Learning Azure DevOps Really This Difficult?

I've been trying to get the hang of Azure DevOps for months, but I keep hitting roadblocks. I can follow along with tutorials, but when I actually try to implement things myself, it feels like my brain just shuts down. I'm really eager to switch into a DevOps role, but right now I'm feeling pretty lost and frustrated. If anyone has a straightforward roadmap or tips on how you managed to learn this without losing your sanity, I'd really appreciate it! I swear I'm not lazy, just really confused.

What specifically are you struggling with? If you already have a grasp on CI/CD concepts, it shouldn't be too daunting. Have you tried exploring other platforms as well?

You’re definitely not dumb! It’s common for things to make sense when someone's guiding you, but when you try it on your own, it can feel overwhelming. Instead of just watching more tutorials, try to build something small from start to finish, even if it's basic. Push some code, set up a pipeline, deploy it, and don’t be afraid to break things! Also, make sure you’re comfortable with the fundamentals like Git and basic Linux commands; Azure DevOps revolves around those key concepts.

Remember, feeling stuck is part of the learning process! The moments of confusion often mean you're pushing your limits and growing. Embrace the struggle!

If you want a smoother experience, consider diving into Jenkins first. Once you have that under your belt, transitioning to Azure DevOps will feel much easier.

It can take some time to get used to Azure DevOps' syntax and quirks, especially with passing variables between stages. However, some AI tools can actually assist with Azure DevOps templates, which might surprise you how well they work. What specific areas are you finding challenging?
