I'm curious if it's still a good idea to study Java given how prevalent chatbots have become. Are they capable of replacing the need to learn programming languages like Java?

Absolutely, learning Java (or any programming language) is still essential! You can use chatbots to help develop applications, but understanding Java will help you prompt effectively, spot errors, and debug. It’s a tool, not a full replacement for programming knowledge.

Interesting point! But why focus solely on Java? Wouldn't that apply to all programming languages? I'm diving into Java now after starting with JavaScript, but I’ve read that chatbots can create apps already.

From my experience, LLMs only answered my Java questions correctly about 10% of the time. So I'm not convinced it’s worth it to rely on them.

Think about it: is it worth learning math just because we have calculators? Or writing skills with spell checkers around? AI has its limits—it’s often wrong and can’t really program. Once the AI hype dims down, those who can code without relying on AI will have the edge.

Chatbots don’t really code, so that’s a simple way to look at it. It’s like asking whether it’s worth it to learn to write stories just because there's a book with the alphabet. Knowing Java or any programming language is still super valuable.
