Is Learning to Code Still Worth It in 2025?

I've tried my hand at coding before but didn't stick with it. This time, I'm determined to be consistent and put in effort. Before I jump back in, I have a few questions I'd love some input on. First, is learning to code still worth it in 2025? With the rise of advanced AI tools, is it still a valuable pursuit? Second, should I focus on game development, which I'm really interested in (maybe using C# with Unity), or is it better to start with web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)? Lastly, how much time should I realistically be spending each week on learning? I want to stay consistent without burning out, so any routine suggestions for a beginner would be great!

It's important to grasp the underlying patterns of coding to build a solid understanding. Creating a mental map of concepts will greatly help!

Absolutely, learning to code is still valuable! Even with AI progression, understanding code is crucial for working effectively with those tools. It might be easier to find jobs in web development than in game dev, but game dev can be a fantastic hobby that helps you learn coding better. As for time, even a few hours a week can make a difference, but consistency is key!

Programming will always be a useful skill. While AI tools have improved, they still can't replace human creativity and problem-solving. I suggest committing at least 2 hours a day to learning. Don't stress too much about whether to choose game dev or web dev right now; as you learn, your preference will become clearer!

Learning to code is all about passion. If you enjoy coding, stick with it! The process itself should be rewarding for you.

Whether coding is "worth it" depends on your interests. AI can help with basics but functional apps still need skilled programmers. If you're excited about game development, dive into that! It’ll keep you motivated. Focus on what you enjoy, and you’ll find it easier to stick with it!
