Hey everyone! I'm planning to upgrade my old i5-9600K after a long wait, and I want to make sure I'm not stuck having to replace my motherboard again shortly after. I've heard that the LGA 1700 socket, which supports the i5-14600K, may not be around for long. Has anyone else dealt with this? Do you think I need to worry about the LGA 1700 becoming obsolete, especially since I know three generations of CPUs have already used it? Any insights would be appreciated!

Honestly, the idea of 'future proofing' a motherboard is a bit misleading. By the time you're ready to upgrade from the 14600K, there will probably be several new platforms out. Just get what works for you now and don’t stress about it too much.
Yeah, LGA 1700 has already been replaced by LGA 1851. So while the current CPUs will still work fine for now, you might run into issues down the line if you're thinking long-term.

Exactly! You’re asking the wrong question; just enjoy your upgrade!
