I'm considering switching to Linux for my music production work in Ableton, but I'm unsure if that's the right move. I write music, play with friends, and sometimes do some drawing on my computer. I'm curious whether there's a Linux distribution that would support Ableton and its plugins effectively, or if it might be smarter to dual boot with Windows for work purposes and a separate Steam OS for gaming. Any suggestions?

Running Ableton on Linux through WINE can be tricky due to audio latency issues. It might cause you more headaches than it's worth. If Ableton is essential for you, dual booting with Windows is probably the best choice. If you really want to try Linux, consider using Bitwig instead, as it runs natively on Linux and is developed by some ex-Ableton folks. For audio work, Ubuntu is user-friendly, but you might want to add Ubuntu Studio for better performance, as the stock version can be a bit bare-bones.
