Is Linux Really the Best Choice for Hassle-Free Video Editing?

I'm a student looking to create content for YouTube and need some recommendations for a Linux distribution that's hassle-free for video editing and other creative software like Blender. I've used Windows before but find that Linux distros I've tried, like Mint, often come with issues that eat up my time—mostly due to my limited knowledge of the terminal. I need reliable software that doesn't require constant troubleshooting with drivers and other technical headaches.

I've struggled with getting game emulation to work using Wine and have found navigating app stores on Linux quite confusing. Ideally, I want a smooth experience that lets me focus on my projects without needing to fix new issues every 30 minutes. Any suggestions for distros or tools that might help?

Honestly, if video editing is your main focus, Linux may not be the best fit. It mostly offers very basic editors or something like DaVinci Resolve, which can be tricky to install. Plus, for everything to work smoothly, having the right hardware is essential—like an AMD GPU and a supported Wi-Fi chipset (stick with Intel and avoid MediaTek if you can). Sometimes it's just better to use the OS that best fits your needs.

So should I just stick with Windows, then? I use a Thinkpad with integrated graphics, and everything I need works flawlessly there.
