I'm planning to build a gaming PC for 1440p gaming and I'm hoping to achieve solid performance, especially with games like Valorant, Overwatch, and some strategy titles like Civilization and Factorio. My monitor supports 165Hz, and I aim for at least 165 FPS in competitive games, while being able to play AAA titles at 100+ FPS. I'm on a budget of $1500 and have a build listed for around $1450 at Microcenter. I'm mostly concerned about the fan setup in my case, as it currently has four intake fans and I'm wondering if I should add exhaust fans to prevent throttling. Anyone have insights or suggestions on my build?

At 1440p, expecting every AAA game to hit 100+ FPS can be optimistic, especially for the heavier titles with high settings. You might need to tweak some settings and use FSR. However, for most of the games on your list, you should be fine with your setup for the most part.
Here's an alternative build that upgrades your GPU to a RX 9070 while lowering the total price by about $25. It features a case with better airflow and included exhaust options. This could ultimately provide better cooling and performance, especially if you’re aiming for high FPS.
I see your point, but I'm really set on the case I picked. I like its aesthetics and cable management solutions. Considering that, do you think the 9060 XT will still meet my needs? I'm hesitant to spend extra if it’s not necessary.
Since your GPU isn’t top-tier, the performance difference between the 7600X3D and the 7700X may not be noticeable. You're likely to be GPU-bound in most games, so prioritize your GPU selection for optimal performance.
I focused on getting the 7600X3D primarily for its performance in CPU-heavy games. I’m swapping in additional RAM to ensure I have enough capacity for my games. Is the cache of the 7600X3D really worth it over the 7700X for gaming performance?
Your build looks solid, but I suggest rethinking the SSD. Do you really need 2TB of storage? The PCIe 5.0 drives are often overhyped for gaming, so consider a more cost-effective option unless you're handling large files regularly. Just a thought!
Good point! I actually meant to list the 2TB model, and it’s going for about $250.

I’m okay with tweaking settings if necessary, especially for demanding titles. If I keep settings adjusted to medium/high with FSR, do you think I can expect to hit 100 FPS consistently?
