Hey everyone! I'm looking for your thoughts on my planned PC build for gaming at 1440p, with a budget of around $2,300. Here's what I'm considering:
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core
- **Motherboard:** Gigabyte B650E AORUS ELITE X AX ICE ATX AM5
- **RAM:** G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30
- **Graphics Card:** Gigabyte WINDFORCE SFF GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16 GB
- **Power Supply:** Corsair RM1000x (2024) 1000 W Fully Modular
- **PC Case:** Lian Li LANCOOL III RGB ATX Mid Tower
- **SSD:** Samsung 990 EVO Plus 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 5.0 X2 NVME
- **Secondary SSD:** Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 X4 NVME
- **CPU Cooler:** MSI MAG CORELIQUID A15 64.89 CFM Liquid Cooler
A few notes:
- I'm hoping to future-proof my setup for upgrades in the next few years, like a higher-end CPU and GPU, plus faster RAM and SSDs as they improve.
- I chose a 1000W PSU based on plans to upgrade to something like a 5090 later on.
- The motherboard needs to handle Bluetooth for my peripherals.
- I believe DDR5-6000 is the sweet spot for Ryzen 7000.
- I'm not sure about the case or CPU cooler—anything that fits my budget while providing good airflow would be great.
Thanks for any feedback!

Your build looks pretty solid, but the motherboard seems a bit overpriced. Also, you might not need an all-in-one cooler; a good air cooler could save you money without sacrificing performance.
Switching to a B850 motherboard is a smarter move. Also, PCIe 5.0 SSDs are probably unnecessary unless you're doing heavy productivity work. You might want to try an air cooler like the Peerless Assassin or Phantom Spirit to save some cash.
I just noticed the B850—gonna look into that! Thanks!
If you adjust the RAM a bit, you can save money. Slower RAM isn't a huge drawback with the X3D CPUs. Also, Micro Center has a build bundle that could save you about $500: the Ryzen 7 7800X3D with an ASUS B650-E motherboard and G.Skill Flare X5 32GB DDR5-6000.
Thanks for pointing that out! I’ll check out that bundle.
You might want to consider cutting costs in some areas to save money. For example, here's a build I've put together that totals about $1,675:
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D - $359
- **CPU Cooler:** Thermalright Peerless Assassin 140 - $43
- **Motherboard:** Gigabyte B850 EAGLE WIFI6E - $149
- **Memory:** Silicon Power XPOWER Zenith Gaming 32 GB DDR5-6000 - $82
- **Storage:** Crucial T500 2 TB NVME - $125
- **Video Card:** ASRock Steel Legend Radeon RX 9070 XT - $713
- **Case:** Lian Li LANCOOL 216 - $112
- **Power Supply:** Cooler Master MWE Gold 850 - $90
This still gives you great performance without going overboard. Using a B850 motherboard is a more cost-effective choice as well!
Thanks for sharing! I’ll definitely look into swapping some parts.

That was my initial thought about the motherboard! I might check out the B850 for some savings. And yes, I’m open to switching to a fan/air cooler.
