Hey everyone! I'm currently using a Ryzen 5 5600 with an RX 6700 XT, powered by a 650W 80+ Bronze PSU. I'm about to upgrade to a Ryzen 7 5700X3D and an RTX 5070 Ti. I checked on PC Part Picker, and it estimates that my system could peak at 606W. Should I be concerned about needing a new PSU? Also, do you think the CPU upgrade is really necessary? I mainly play at 3440x1440 (UWQHD) and experienced some bottlenecking with my old setup in MSFS 2024, but it worked well for most other games. Thanks!

A 650W PSU can manage, as long as it’s decent quality. You could save power by undervolting or overclocking your components—this could reduce your overall power draw by around 20%!
I'd personally get a 750W PSU just for peace of mind. Better to have some headroom than to risk going over the limit! The official recommendation also states 750W for the 5070 Ti.
Totally get that logic!
The recommended minimum for the RTX 5070 Ti is around 750W. You might get by with a 650W if it’s high-quality, but that 80+ Bronze PSU likely isn’t top-tier. Depending on its age, it may not perform as well as you'd like either. Just be cautious!
I'll just set everything up and run some stress tests with Cinebench and Furmark to see how it holds up!
You definitely want that RTX 5070 Ti. Enable some overlays to monitor GPU and CPU usage while you game. If your GPU isn’t maxing out while a CPU core is at 100%, you might still have a bottleneck and the 5700X3D will help. Being able to identify these issues can boost your performance a ton!
That's why I went with the 5700X3D! I had my suspicions about the 5600 bottlenecking in demanding games, especially flight sims.
I suggest going with a 750W PSU. 606W is pushing 80% of a 750W supply, which is a good rule of thumb to avoid potential issues.
Yeah, my wallet is already screaming after all these upgrades!

I often overclock, but maybe this time I'll try undervolting. Does it really not hurt performance?
