Is My 8-Year-Old PSU Good Enough for a 4060 Upgrade?

Hey everyone! I'm considering upgrading my GPU to a 4060, but I've read that a 600W power supply is recommended. The thing is, my current PSU is a 600W EVGA I bought about 8 years ago. Do you think I should invest in a new PSU, or is my old EVGA still sufficient for the new graphics card?

If your PSU isn't a low-quality one, it should still be okay. Just keep an eye on it during gaming and make sure everything runs smoothly.

I've got PSUs that have been running for nearly 20 years without problems! I wouldn't be too worried about it unless you're seeing performance issues.

That really depends on your CPU too. If you have a power-hungry CPU like a Ryzen 9 5900X, you might want to replace it. Otherwise, consider your CPU's age and how much power it uses. Maybe it's time for an upgrade regardless!

I'm using a 4060 with a 500W PSU in my streaming rig and it's doing great. What GPU are you upgrading from, and what kind of performance are you aiming to achieve?

I think it really depends on the specific model of your PSU. Some older models might not hold up as well. If it's a high-quality unit, you might be fine. What model do you have?
